september ending

this is octoberfest...probably one of, if not the biggest event at timothy christian high school in the fall. about 3/4 of the student body gets dressed up in the most ridiculous, colorful, mismatched clothes they can find. there's a theme every year and then each class sing these crazy songs...some where they have used a tune and just change the words....and pretty much have a great time making fools of themselves. it's really hard to describe but it's quite the event, complete with it's own traditions...like freshman are not allowed to wear socks and only seniors are allowed on stage for the final number. as crazy and ridiculous as it was, i think every high school should have an octoberfest (and no, i don't know why they call it octoberfest when it's always held in september).

tonight my volleyball team played chicago christian, the best team that we have faced so far this season. it was quite an exciting game - we won the first game 25-22, lost the second by the same score, and won the third 25-21. i really knew it was an entertaining game when even matt told me so. :) the year is going really well and the girls are starting to move and read the ball and just learn as they play...it's great. with just 3 weeks or so left in the season, hopefully we can finish that strong too.

every once in a while i get asked about my job situation, and rightfully so since i've kinda been all over the place ever since we moved here. right now i'm pretty sure that i'm wrapping up my final week of aiding in the kindergarten. i'm not sure what's exactly happening once i leave, but i just do as i'm told and working for 2-3 weeks. after that i am going to go talk to a friend's sister-in-law about some temp work for a couple months. it's not something steady yet, but i'm just trusting that God will continue to provide, even if it is several short term things.

on a more serious note, this week the timothy christian community found out that mrs. venhousen, one of the discovery room teachers got diagnosed with stage four cancer, and it has spread all throughout her body. she has 2 kids in the high school, one on the freshman volleyball team, but i don't know her personally. it has hit everyone at school pretty hard, so even though you don't know her, we ask that you pray for mrs. venhousen's healing and the timothy community as a whole.

and to not end this on a sad note....congratulations to nate and nicole again!! so happy for you guys!! :)
